Kenny Scharf (born November 23, 1958) is an American painter known for his participation in New York City's interdisciplinary East Village art scene during the 1980s, alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.Scharf's do-it-yourself practice spanned painting, sculpture, fashion, video, performance art, and street art. Across Nares' five-decade career, the artist's cross-disciplinary practice has investigated, challenged and expanded the boundaries between gesture, motion, and time. Drawing inspiration from a variety of sources including early twentieth-century fashion plates, Greco-Roman bas-reliefs, and Medieval church carvings, Kielar interrogates notions of womanhood that have long circulated ideas about strength, beauty, vulnerability, sex, and heroism. Olschbaurs work is held in the permanent collections of such institutions as the Belvedere Museum, Vienna; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; and the Yuz Museum, Shanghai. Mattel Creations tapped celebrated artist Mark Ryden to envision Barbie through the lens of his singular visual language and create specialty items that blur the lines between toys and collectible art. Ryden's creative techniques helped define the movement the exacting craftsmanship and layering of the Old Masters-style painting reinvented with a modern, playful mix of candy-colored flea market finds and forest creatures, toys, kids, and cultural artifacts.
